The currency period for HLTOPD002 ended on 20 December 2025 — 10 months ago. It names 2 replacements below, with the equivalence it declares for each.

Transition clockOpen for new enrolmentsClosing to new enrolments soonClosed to new enrolments

New enrolments are not permitted from 22 December 2026 — one year from the date the replacement was included on the National Register (s 14(1)(a)(i) of the National Vocational Education and Training Regulator (Compliance Standards for NVR Registered Training Organisations and Fit and Proper Person Requirements) Instrument 2025 (F2025L00355, in force 1 July 2025)), or from a later date if ASQA has approved otherwise — for your organisation, for a class of RTOs, or for all RTOs. This is an obligation of RTOs registered by ASQA; those registered by VRQA in Victoria or by the TAC in Western Australia are not covered by it.

Learners already enrolled have no fixed deadline: they complete the product and are issued their AQF certification, or transfer to the replacement, in a timely manner (ASQA guidance, read live 25 August 2026).

The same date closes a second obligation: under s 7(2)(c) of the same instrument, advertising may refer to a superseded product only while it is on scope and new enrolments are permitted. When enrolments stop, the course page advertising it stops being permitted too — and if ASQA approves a later enrolment date, that moves with it.

Sector-wide: the item 14 cut-off, measured across every live scope · the repealed 12-month rule

For an ASQA-registered RTO that does not already hold it, adding the replacement to scope is a change-of-scope application to ASQA, with a fee set by law: A$200 application fee + A$1,100 assessment fee per application (up to 5 VET courses and 50 units of competency). RTOs registered by a state regulator, and ASQA delegates, sit under other arrangements. Source: NVR Fees Determination 2026, F2026L00814, from 1 July 2026 · read 5 September 2026.

Where the register points next

Each step below is one supersession training.gov.au publishes between two products. The label on the rail is the equivalence the register declares for that step — not our reading of it.

  1. HLTOPD002Superseded — not equivalentDispense optical appliances
  2. not equivalent
  3. HLTOPD007CurrentDispense single vision optical appliances

training.gov.au publishes 2 replacements for HLTOPD002. This rail follows HLTOPD007; the other: HLTOPD008. The transition clock above is computed from HLTOPD008, the replacement with the latest inclusion date — the reading most favourable to the provider.

What the register says changed

These are the mapping notes training.gov.au attaches to each supersession, quoted as the register writes them. They are the only public record of what actually changed between two versions.

Official documents on the register

What training.gov.au lists for HLTOPD002 and for its training package HLT (release 10.0), with the name and date the register publishes for each file. We link them; we have not read them, and nothing on this page is taken from their contents.

Is HLTOPD002 on your scope?

This page is the register's record of one product. What it cannot tell you is whether HLTOPD002 sits on your own scope today, or what else on that scope has moved without anyone noticing. Enter your RTO number and we read every product on your live scope against training.gov.au and tell you which ones are superseded and which replacements the register flags not equivalent.

Public code, nothing else. We read your live scope from training.gov.au and answer here — we keep neither the code nor the answer; what remains is the two-minute abuse counter described on our privacy page.

Whether a supersession requires anything of you, and what, sits with you and your regulator. This page maps what the register records; it does not make that judgement. If the difference between an equivalent and a non-equivalent replacement is the question, we wrote it up in equivalent vs not equivalent.

Where HLTOPD002 is used

training.gov.au lists HLTOPD002 inside 1 training product, which it no longer lists as current. It is below, with the register's own core or elective flag for HLTOPD002 in that product.

Products no longer current 1 listed

The register still records HLTOPD002 inside this one, but it no longer recommends it as current. It is here because a scope history or an old enrolment can still point at it.
